Anne Matthews
Multi-instrumentalist and singer Anne Mathews spent two decades making music with a variety of Seattle DIY projects before finally abandoning the wonders of the (too expensive) city for the charms of the (only slightly less expensive) Kitsap Peninsula - a place where she now spends much of her free time scrambling around the woods in search of food.
Her past & present collaborations include global folk duo the Lonely Coast, miniature-instrument quartet Toy Boats, Balkan-pop-inspired groups Eurodanceparty USA USA and Orkestar Zirkonium, the Nu Klezmer Army, insurgent street band Infernal Noise Brigade, golden-era country duo Bannister & Maine, and eclectic Kitsap rock collective Paundy.
Alongside traditional music venues she's performed on rivers, in ruins, in deserts, on farms, in fields, in abandoned mines, for festivals and feasts, in parks and town halls and on bike paths, in libraries and slaughterhouses and squats, and as soundtrack to political demonstrations. Her work has been supported by King County 4Culture, Allied Arts Foundation, Seattle Parks & Recreation, the King County Library System, the Seattle Center, Duwamish Revealed, and a host of tolerant bandmates.
